Lyrics of the month – May 2010

This was a book my mother got us for the kids and we all fell in love with the story and music. Peter Yarrow (the famous one who sings Puff the Magic Dragon) sings beautifully with his daughter and I was really moved by the new lyrics on Dona Dona. So much so that I decided from now on to sing this new version on stage. What a joy to tell a new story in a beautiful old song.

On a corner in the marketplace there’s a man sitting on a stone
See him crying there, no one seems to care
It’s so sad that he’s all alone
Let us go and sing to him, sing with all our might
Sing so gently from our hearts until the morning light.
